Improving Akron's Quality of Life
Role: WordPress Development, Client Training
Keep Akron Beautiful (KAB) is a nonprofit organization, that was established in 1981 to implement a comprehensive litter prevention, recycling promotion and beautification program for the City of Akron. They came to hfa to rejuvenate and beatify their outdated website.
Following the Agile method, we worked together to estimate, architect, and build a modern website that inspires and educates the community to take action every day to improve and beautify their environment.
I lead the development and worked closely with the senior art director and client stakeholders to redesign their entire site from the ground up. We chose to use WordPress and coupled it with a custom child theme based on the OceanWP theme so that their marketing staff could easily manage their own content and showcase it in a beautiful way.

The old site was over 15 years old, expensive to maintain and needed a complete overhaul. The process was typical. The project leads gathered the requirements, defined use cases and analyzed competitors. Armed with this knowledge, the art director followed an iterative approach to design and layout. Finally, implementation became a collaboration between myself and the art director to build the experience.
The end result was a fully responsive, high performing website with features such as: custom page templates, donations, event calendar, video, Slider Revolution and Gravity Forms. I also provided training sessions and ongoing technical support to their team so that they could confidently maintain their site moving forward.
